The Illawarra is a region about two hours drive south of Sydney. The coastline is very diverse, from long sandy beaches to steep rocky cliffs, points and headlands. The countryside is beautiful and varies from rain forest, mountains and escarpments to rolling green hills and valleys.

The southern parts of the Illawarra are popular with families during holiday periods and with older people at other times. Consequently there are many cafes and restaurants and areas for tourist shopping in most towns and many and varied places of accommodation.
